Ramon Pils

Ramon Pils read Law, History and English language and literature (with a specialisation in Australian Studies) at the University of Vienna and the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He also holds a Certificate in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Vienna Law School and the IoLET Level 7 Diploma in Translation (DipTrans IoLET), for which he prepared at City University London. He has received, among other academic prizes and awards, a Dean's Commendation for High Achievement from the University of Queensland and the "Best of the Best" Award in Law of the University of Vienna.

Upon graduation he worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Legal and Constitutional History, University of Vienna. During this period he was also for some time a member of the boards of the Wiener Rechtsgeschichtliche Gesellschaft and the Association of Young Legal Historians. In the latter capacity he co-organised the 18th Annual Forum of Young Legal Historians in 2012. He has since been teaching Law at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna (PH Wien).

Ramon Pils is also a freelance lawyer-linguist and researcher, specialising in legal translation and terminology. He is a recipient of the Fred Brandeis Trophy, a prize for excellence in translation awarded by the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London.
